FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Welcome Back
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and enjoyed the holiday period. It was wonderful to see all of the students and families return to school today ready to commence the new term with smiles on their faces.
ANZAC Day
On Wednesday 26th April we held our ANZAC Day assemblies – It is such an important event in our school calendar and a wonderful opportunity to commemorate and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. With the hall out of action, it took a great team effort to ensure we were able to run our assemblies in the library. Due to limited space, some of our classes were unable to attend so we live streamed our assembly into the classrooms. I would also like to thank the many parents who attended, it was wonderful to see so many families.
Words cannot express how grateful I am to Mrs Larkin, Mrs Graham, Mrs Pearce and Miss Kelsey for the outstanding job they did to ensure such a special occasion was phenomenally organised and a true reflection of the ANZAC spirit. A big thank you to our Year 6 dancers, 1 Amber and 3 Navy for their amazing performances.
Four of our School Leaders represented Musgrave Hill at a special ceremony at ANZAC Square (Brisbane) on Monday 24th April. They were able to lay a wreath on behalf of our school next to the eternal flame. They certainly did our school proud.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
We will be conducting our Semester 1 Parent/Teacher interviews from the week commencing 15th May. Teachers will be sending out more information around times, days and how to book your appointment in the coming weeks. We hope each parent/carer takes the opportunity to touch base with your child’s class teacher.
Attendance
Attendance = Success
At Musgrave Hill State School our goal is to have a daily attendance rate of 95% and above in each year level, unfortunately most of our year levels sit well below this target. It is vital we work together and must continue to make Every Day Count so please send your children to school.
Major Works within the school
Upon your return from the Easter break, you would have noticed a lot of construction work happening in and around our Prep area. One of our Prep buildings has been removed and taken back to the factory for an additional classroom to be added to it. It is a very strategic process. We are hoping the new Prep building will be back on site within 6 to 8 weeks.

We also had two new temporary classrooms craned in over the holidays. They have been set up in front of the Meet and Greet area on the oval side. These classrooms are in preparation for further works that will be taken place later within the year.

GOLD COIN CHALLENGE
Gold Token Challenge Term 1 Wrap Up!
Whaaaaaat a day it was!!! Last Friday was an absolute blast for our Term 1 Champion House, Dolphin! So much fun was had by all our Dolphin kiddies. There were giggles, fun times, more giggles to be had about the sliding techniques on show, a whole lot of grass covering our bodies, and some very tired and sore teachers!
Well done Dolphin students on a ridiculously fun and respectful morning. We look forward to seeing which House will reign supreme and be crowned Term 2 Champions.
Special thanks also are to be extended to Sam O’Connor and his team. Your support and involvement in our school activities is extremely appreciated and your pizza generosity was very much welcomed by our kids! We look forward to seeing you back at Musgrave to joining in the fun with our Term 2 Champions.
