FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
The End is in Sight
The end of the school year is fast approaching and the school has a very ‘busy’ feel to it as students and teachers finish off the year’s programs. Many students are already talking about their holiday break and the Year 6’s are sharing their nervous excitement as they prepare to move into high school and a new phase of their educational journey. I would like to remind all students that school rules and expectations are in place right up until the final day of school.
The last few weeks of school are not a time to behave or act differently, this ensures that all staff and students can continue to learn and work unhindered. It has been a wonderful year and I would like the last few weeks to be just as positive as the previous three and a half terms. Parents can support their children by reminding them and helping them to keep adhering to our school expectations.
As this will be our last newsletter for 2022, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Parents/Carers, for your continual support of not only myself but also the school as a whole. Students, staff and parents working together is a key ingredient to enhancing student outcomes and creating a great place in which to learn. Thank you for your support in making this a reality at Musgrave Hill State School.
Students leaving Musgrave Hill State School
If your circumstances have changed and your child is no longer going to attend Musgrave in 2023, can you please let us know ASAP. We need accurate and up to date information to ensure we enter 2023 with the number of teachers appropriate for our predicted enrolment. Please do not rely on your child to tell the class teacher, ring or email the office as soon as you are aware if your child/ren will not be returning in 2023.
Year 6 Graduation
On Tuesday the 6th December we will be farewelling our Year 6 students in a very special graduation ceremony. I am sure it will be an amazing and enjoyable night for all. We wish them all the best and we are confident that Musgrave Hill State School has provided a solid foundation from which they can build their dreams on.
Report Cards-: ‘C’ is something to celebrate!
Both learners and teachers are currently completing their final term of work together. On Wednesday 7th December week 10 you will be emailed your child’s report card for Semester Two 2022. Reports are written with a 5-point scale (A-E). Achieving a ‘C’ on this scale means a child is ON TARGET for their age level and is definitely something that needs to be celebrated.
Achieving above a ‘C’ is awarded to learners who show that they are independently working beyond the criteria required for their year level. One of our School values is Excellence and we encourage all students to strive to achieve to their potential.
For some students, regardless of their level of achievement, their rating is a result of them applying themselves and working extremely hard. When this is the case, these students should feel proud of their efforts and be congratulated. I encourage parents to pay particular attention to the effort grades for each subject and support their children to continually try their hardest at school.
If you have queries about your child’s report card, please contact your current class teacher/s.
Final Message
I am proud of the resilience, sense of pride and the togetherness that has been continually demonstrated by our staff, students and parents. From everyone here at Musgrave Hill State School, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
Please note that the students return to school on Monday 23rd January 2023. I look forward to seeing you all again then.
Julie-Anne McGuinness – Principal

TUCKSHOP NEWS
Firstly, I would like to say thank you for your patience and understanding this year. Between order restrictions and illness, we have had quite an interesting year. Hopefully as more and more things go back to normal we will as well.
As we wind down to the end of year, our stock will be winding down as well so although the Tuckshop will be open right up until the last day of school there will be limited choices on QKR!
Children can bring money to school to buy ice blocks, chips and drinks over the counter at first and second break.
Sushi Day will be next Thursday 1st December, all orders must be placed by 9am on Wednesday 30th November. If you have any queries please call the Tuckshop.
Lunch orders need to be made via the Qkr! App by 9.00am each day. You can also use the ‘Musgrave Way Award’ by simply attaching the $5.00 award to a note with your order. Please make sure your child lets their Teacher know or remind them to drop it off to me in the Tuckshop when they arrive at school.
If you have any enquiries at all please don’t hesitate to give me a call 07 5644 5555.
Uniform News
The Uniform Shop will close on 1st December for 2022 for stocktake and audit purposes. We will reopen again in January 2023 so keep an eye on the Facebook page and Class Dojo for more information.
Thank you once again for your support.
