2023 Enrolments
As we start to plan for the 2023 school year I am asking all parents who will be leaving us at the end of the year to advise the school administration. Your support is invaluable as we are already planning for the new school year and predicted enrolments are essential for this planning. Our Prep enrolments are filling fast! If you have a CHILD STARTING Prep next year or know someone who does, please enrol now! This is critical as we plan for 2023. We know that our reputation as having one of the best Prep Programs in the area makes us popular, but we would appreciate you spreading the word and helping us maintain our strong student enrolment.
Gold Coast Show Day
Reminder to parents that Friday 26th August is the Gold Coast Show Public Holiday
Student Free Day
Friday 2nd September is a Student Free Day.
Every Day Counts – Attendance
The attendance at Musgrave currently sits at 88%. If we are to continue to improve student learning outcomes we need all students at school engaged in their learning. Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day and missing school puts them behind. If there is anything that the school can do to support parents in ensuring that your child/children are at school each day, please let us know.
I understand that COVID and the flu has contributed greatly to our lower than usual attendance numbers and by no means am I wanting families to send students to school who are unwell. I am just reminding families to ensure children are at school when fit and well.
Let us unite on the notion that ‘EVERYDAY COUNTS’ and see if we can achieve in excess of 95% attendance for the remainder of the school year. Your support would be greatly appreciated
Book Week
Thursday 25 August we will be celebrating Book Week and I am particularly looking forward to seeing our students and staff dressing up in costumes reflecting this year’s theme –
' Dreaming with eyes open’
We encourage all students to dress up but remind parents to ensure student costumes are made in a way that students can take them off independently if needed and also to provide a school uniform for the rest of the day if the costume is impractical for students to remain in all day.
Speech Pathology Week
Speech Pathology Week seeks to promote the speech pathology profession and the work done by speech pathologists with the 1.2 million Australians who have a communication disability. In 2022, Speech Pathology Week is from 21-27 August.
Speech pathologists work to ensure everyone can communicate with confidence. It is important that the broader community understands that:
- communication is a basic human right;
- 1.2 million Australians live with communication disability;
- communication disability is largely invisible. Unseen and out-of-sight;
- confident communication helps maximise educational, health and social outcomes; and
- communication is more than just speech.
A big thank you to the Speech Therapists who support not just Musgrave but all the Queensland schools.

CLASSROOM CAPERS – 5 TEAL
This term in Science, we are learning about light. We are conducting a range of investigations to find out how light behaves. To do this the way a scientist does, we are posing questions, making predictions and explaining our results.

CLASSROOM CAPERS – 3 WHITE
Working Hard in 3White!
This term, 3 White have been reading lots of Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. Through texts and videos, we have enjoyed listening to stories like How the Koala Got its Stumpy Tail, How the Turtle Got its Shell and The Echidna and the Shade Tree. The students have enjoyed retelling and writing these. Last week as a task, the students were asked to retell How the Kangaroo Got its Tail. They went ahead and highlighted the various parts that make a successful story. We have been discussing how to add in more exciting openers and time connectives within our writing. Next week we will begin brainstorming ideas for the students to develop their own.
