FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending or your perspective) we have had our last public holiday for this term. This week we returned to our 5-day week and we will have a further six uninterrupted weeks of school until our Winter break.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Please ensure you take up the opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher. It is so important for parents and teachers to connect and work together for the benefit of the children.

Year 1 to Year 6-: Interviews are scheduled to commence in Week 5, Monday 16th May through to Friday 20th May.

Prep-: Interviews are scheduled to commence in Week 6, Monday 23rd May through to Friday 27th May.

If you have yet to confirm a time please make this a priority.

District Cross Country

On Thursday the 5th of April, we had our biggest representation of students competing at the District Cross Country. All the students represented MHSS beautifully. It was a tough course and we are extremely proud of each and every student who competed.

We have 5 students who performed so well they will represent Musgrave at the Regional trials:

  • Kiira Waugh (2nd)
  • Kaito McFadyen (6th)
  • Riley Wood (7th)
  • Bella Tierney (9th)
  • Isla Hendry (11th)

We had two students who just missed the 14th position cut off but their efforts were truly amazing as was every student who competed for Musgrave.

  • Willow Barrie (15th)
  • Sabrina Stirling (15th)

Attendance-: Every day counts, every minute counts

COVID protocols have certainly impacted some of our families in regards to absences but there are still too many students who are having frequent days off and this can definitely have a bearing on their academic progress…

Our first bell goes at 8.40am and students should be ready for Meet and Greet. Children are required to be in class ready to start the school day at 8.50am. It’s important that your child/ren arrive on time to school, so they are ready to start the day and are engaging in the morning routines

ICAS Assessments

Due to staffing constraints and the impact on learning time, this year Musgrave Hill State School will not be catering for the ICAS assessment on campus. Instead ICAS will be providing Queensland students with the option of participating in the online tests at one of their JEM sites, outside of Musgrave.

Throughout Australia, ICAS testing can be held through its division, Janison Exam Management (JEM). A JEM centre is a venue where students can sit the ICAS assessment outside of school hours. This year they will be opening a JEM centre in Queensland. Parents will be able to make bookings online to register their child at an examination facility for students who wish to participate in the annual ICAS Competitions and sit an ICAS test. The ICAS test will occur during a 2-week window in August.
