COVID Update
The latest government guidelines have highlighted that masks will continue to be worn by school staff for at least another two weeks if they cannot social distance. I therefore ask all parents and adults when on our school site to please continue to wear a mask unless exempt. All other existing procedures of the past two weeks will remain in place. Health experts continue to remind us that to reduce the risks of catching or transmitting the virus we need to do ‘the right thing’, including:
- Practice good hygiene (wash your hands frequently; avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth).
- Get tested and seek medical care early if you have a fever, cough, experience breathing difficulties or display any COVID like symptoms.
- Stay at home or keep your children home if you or they begin to feel unwell until fully recovered.
As always, I thank you for your ongoing support.
Book Week Parade
What a wonderful celebration of reading we had last week celebrating Book Week. Thank you to all our families for sending your children to school in their amazing costumes. Adjudicating the best costumes for each year level proved extremely difficult for the judging panel. Thanks to Mrs Newman for organising such a phenomenal event.
I am not sure who had more fun on the day, the kids or the staff.
2021 NAPLAN Results
Last week, preliminary results for this year’s NAPLAN were released. These initial results for our school were extremely pleasing, reflecting our clear agenda of focused effort, achievement and sustained improvement. Our year 3 students sit above the Nation and State averages in Reading, Writing and Grammar and Punctuation. We also had more than ½ our Year 3 students in the Upper 2 Band for Reading and Writing. Our Year 3’s were on par with the Nation/State in Numeracy and Spelling.
Our Year 5 students excelled in Grammar and Punctuation sitting well above the National and State averages. The year 5 students sat above the Nation/State in Numeracy and achieved similar to the Nation/State in Reading and Writing.
Well done and big congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students, our hard-working staff across all year levels and our supportive parents – these are results to be very proud of! Our staff will investigate our 2021 NAPLAN results and data – at student, class, year and whole school levels – to look closely at the areas where we can build on our performance and ensure we are supporting and challenging all our students. Each student in Years 3 and 5 will be provided with their own ‘Student Report’ for NAPLAN, these reports will be distributed soon.
Although NAPLAN results form a useful piece of information, they are not the be all and end all upon which to judge a school’s success. It is important to remember the results represent point-in-time testing over a few hours each May – for only two of our seven-year levels. The NAPLAN results are important but are just one of the many pieces of information our school uses to improve learning outcomes for our students.
Teacher Aide Day
Today, Friday, 3 September is World Teacher Aide Day. This is where we recognise the great work our Teacher Aides do to support our students and teachers. Teacher Aides provide assistance that goes a long way in our classrooms, providing the extra attention some students need to get the most out of a lesson and supporting our teachers to organise engaging and educational activities each day. On behalf of our school community, I would like to say a big thank you to all of our wonderful Teacher Aides and assure them that their work is greatly appreciated by all not only on Teacher Aide Day but every day!
Father’s Day
It is my hope that all of our amazing Fathers, Grandfathers and Carers have a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday. The contribution you all make to your children should never be underestimated. Every dad needs their time to shine, enjoy your special day.

Healthy Lunch Box Ideas
Having 4 girls with very different tastes, it sometimes is hard to find a healthy snack that they all love. This one is a favourite in my household and is lucky if they last more than one day. They are low in sugar and are completely dairy free, you could even use a Gluten Free flour if you wanted to make them Gluten Free.
