FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Staff Changes

Our Year 3 to 6 Deputy Principal, Mrs Bridget Bartolo had her last day with us last Friday. She is off on maternity leave until August next year. Ms Tamara Hall steps into her position. Tamara has been an integral member of our Leadership team for some time now as the Head of Curriculum and she is looking forward to the rewards and challenges of replacing Bridget in the Deputy Principal role.

David Bird our Head of Well-Being will be replacing Tamara Hall as Head of Curriculum and Katie Halsall replaces David Bird as the Head of Well-Being. Anthony Clarke will be joining us as our new PE teacher while Katie H is in her new role. While changes are inevitable within a school, these changes will appear seamless and we will not miss a beat because all the above mentioned people have been a part of the Musgrave family for a long time and are passionate and committed to everything we stand for and value.

I am confident they will all do an amazing job in their new roles.

School Opinion Survey

This survey offers an opportunity to have your say about what we do well at Musgrave Hill and how you believe we can improve. The survey information is extremely important to us. The surveys are conducted online by following the instructions and login codes on the blue form your eldest child received from school last week. Please note the online survey must be completed before 23 August 2019.

Parents/caregivers if you do not have access to a computer/tablet/phone with internet connection and you would like to complete the School Opinion Survey please contact the office and we will be able to organise a device for you to use.

Prep 2020

The year is passing so quickly and already we are planning for Prep 2020. To date we have 54 Prep students on our books and around 25 students on our out of catchment waiting list. Our Prep intake each year is allocated firstly to families within our catchment or siblings of current students at our school, any remaining spaces after these enrolments are offered to our out of catchment families.

We will begin our interviews and acceptance process very shortly. To help us ensure families do not miss a spot here we need any in catchment or siblings to register and return your completed paper work, including birth certificate, to the office ASAP to secure your place. Even if you are an existing family, you must still complete the enrolment process for your Prep child for next year.

Fire Evacuation and Lockdown Practices

As per Education Queensland protocols, all State Schools must practice their Evacuation and Lockdown procedures regularly to ensure all staff and students are aware of the processes and school policy. We have had a practice run on both procedures this year with our Fire Evacuation practice last term and our Lockdown practice this week Monday 5th August. All staff and students followed the processes and procedures extremely thoroughly and efficiently.

Reminder of our Parents on School Grounds Policy

As we have a number of new families starting with us this term, I thought it timely to remind new and existing families of our “Parents on school grounds policy.”

Unless you are attending a scheduled school activity or meeting, or collecting your child/ren after you have signed them out through the office, the policy states that for the safety of all students here a Musgrave that parents/carers or other family members collecting students do not enter the school grounds until 2.40pm. Once you have collected your child/ren, I ask that you please exit the school grounds by 3.15pm.

In recent times, we have a number of families remaining on the school grounds after school has finished for the day. I have had reports of students running around and playing on playgrounds and other areas of the school. I ask that at the completion of the school day that all families and students vacant the school grounds. As I mentioned above it is for the safety of our students, staff and parents that this policy was introduce and I really do appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.

Julie-Anne McGuinness - Principal
