FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
I would like to welcome back all of our students, parents & staff for the final term of the 2018 school year. Hopefully you have had a safe and relaxing break especially after our productive pursuits in term 3. We also saw fantastic achievements in classrooms with many students making significant improvement in various Key Learning Areas throughout the term. We hope to finish the year with a term that is full of diligence and commitment to learning, creativity and excellence.
2019 Enrolments - IMPORTANT
To ensure we have as accurate enrolment numbers as possible to start 2019, I have sent a letter home with the youngest in the family requesting information about your child/ren’s schooling for 2019. Children who are returning to Musgrave Hill are just as important as those children who are not. We also need to know if you are taking an extended holiday and will not be returning day 1 of the 2019 school year to ensure we keep a place for your child/ren. I understand we all have very busy lives but by taking just a couple of minutes to complete this form it will make such an incredible difference to ensuring a smooth start to 2019. I thank you in advance for your support in this matter. Please return completed forms to your class teacher. If you have more than one child at the school then please return to the youngest child’s class teacher.
Colour Run
What a fantastic way to finish a term. A big thank you to the parent community for supporting this event and I know everyone involved had the best time. I am thinking the staff may have enjoyed it more than the students.

Day for Daniel
On Friday 26th October, Musgrave Hill students will once again participate in ‘Day for Daniel’ which helps to raise awareness of child safety within schools and the wider the community. The Foundation aims to make the world a safer place by educating students on safety matters while providing them with life skills for real world situations. To support this worthy cause, students are asked to wear a plain red shirt and to bring a gold coin donation. The entire school will be walking around the oval as a symbol of respect to this wonderful foundation.
World Teachers’ Day
Friday the 26th of October is the day we celebrate World Teachers’ Day. World Teachers' Day offers a chance to acknowledge our teachers and say thanks. Every day our MHSS teachers are making a difference educating and inspiring our students, as well as providing a supportive environment where the social and emotional needs of our students are being met. We appreciate the pivotal role our teachers play in shaping our student’s lives.
Australian Youth Performing Arts Company Performances
Musgrave Hill was lucky enough to be selected by Australian Youth Performing Arts Company to come to our school and perform two shows free of charge. A cast of amazing young performers tour schools around Australia to deliver a message that kids should always get involved in performing arts and never be afraid to give it a go. The inspirational performances are designed to not only help kids get motivated to participate, but also to inspire and remind their school teachers and principals that they should also encourage kids to get involved. The performances were truly amazing and on behalf of the Musgrave community I would like to take this opportunity to thank AYPAC for choosing our school.
Celebrate Occupational Therapy Week
Next week (21st – 27th October) we take a moment to thank all our Occupational Therapists who work tirelessly to support our students and staff. They do an amazing job and we are blessed to have them working within our schools.
Student Free Day
Please note that Monday 22nd October is a Student Free Day.

TUCKSHOP NEWS
We have a new menu item - Chicken Fingers and Salad. This meal deal is available on Thursday’s only. It consists of chicken fingers, small green salad and a corn cobette and is $4.00 on its own or $6.00 with a water and Quelch ice block. Unfortunately our Slushee machine is still not working at present but we are hoping to rectify this soon.
Uniform News
Uniforms are in stock, however please be aware there are limited numbers in our larger sizes. You can purchase over the counter at the tuckshop or place an order on Flexischools. We do not receive the order straight away when your orders are placed on Flexischools, it usually takes approximately 24 hours to approve the order and forward it to us.

CLASSROOM CAPERS – 3 WHITE
Ask Gran, Not Google
3 White was recently invited to participate in Feros Care’s Ask Gran Not Google initiative. This initiative encourages children to seek advice and knowledge from seniors in their lives to strengthen inter-generational bonds and to affirm the value of seniors’ lives and life experience. While the internet is an important source of information in our daily lives, it is also essential that we do not discount the wisdom and life experiences of older generations.
Students in 3W brought questions home to ask their own grandparents, family friends or neighbours. We also Skyped grandparents from Canada and mailed postcards to seniors at a local aged care home. The students loved reading the wise and funny responses they received and learning about the differences and similarities between life in the past and modern day life. We encourage you to try switching off your devices from time to time as well and to ask Gran instead!
