FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Welcome Back to Term 4!
Welcome back to what is shaping up to be a massive Term 4! It’s always an exciting time of year — filled with lots of learning, celebration, and plenty of special events as we head toward the end of another fantastic school year. There’s so much to look forward to.
While it’s a busy term, it’s also one of the most rewarding. Let’s finish the year strong by continuing to support one another, celebrate our students’ achievements, and enjoy all the wonderful moments that make our school community so special.
Planning for Classes in 2026
We are beginning preparations for 2026 class placements, and an important part of this process is confirming our enrolment numbers for the new school year.
Next week, a letter will be sent home requesting information about your child/ren’s schooling for 2026. Whether your child will be returning to Musgrave Hill or moving on to another school, it’s essential that we receive this information. If your family will be taking an extended holiday and your child will not return on the first day of the school year, please also let us know — this helps us to hold a place for your child and ensure accurate planning.
We understand life is busy, but taking just a couple of minutes to complete and return this form will make an incredible difference in ensuring a smooth and successful start to 2026. Thank you in advance for your support. Please return all completed forms to the school office.
Exciting News – Our New Covered Pick-Up Zone!
At the commencement of this term we’re thrilled to have unveiled our massive new covered area in the pick-up zone. This fantastic addition to our school wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing Colour Run fundraising efforts of our community in 2024.
A grand opening video has been shared with families via ClassDojo, so be sure to check it out and celebrate this milestone with us!
This unveiling was the perfect way to kick off our major fundraising “Colour Run” event for 2025. A huge thank you to all the families who are already raising funds with such enthusiasm — every dollar makes a difference.
Parent Requests for 2026
Later this term, our Leadership Team, Support Staff, and Class Teachers will work collaboratively to place students into classes for 2026. Staff draw on their deep understanding of each child — including their academic, social, and emotional needs — as well as their knowledge of which students should not be placed together. Our goal is always to create well-balanced classes where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.
We greatly appreciate your trust in our decision-making and your recognition of the time, care, and professionalism that goes into this process.
If parents wish to provide input for consideration, please email your request to the relevant Deputy Principal listed below. Please note that requests from previous years are not kept on file, as student needs and circumstances often change.
- Prep: Ms Fiona Zielke – fleit1@eq.edu.au
- Year 1 & 2: Ms Ellen Hahn – emhah0@eq.edu.au
- Year 3–6: Ms Kylie O’Loughlin – kolou3@eq.edu.au
Please note that we are unable to accept requests for specific teachers. A new class and teacher provide valuable opportunities for students to make new friends and engage in fresh learning experiences.
Requests should focus on your child’s learning needs and any specific considerations that may help them succeed in 2026.
The closing date for these requests is Tuesday, 11th November. Requests received after this date will not be considered.

MIND MATTERS

OCD Awareness Week (12–18 October 2025)
This week marks OCD Awareness Week, a time to build understanding and compassion for those living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
OCD is often misunderstood as simply being “extra tidy” or “liking things a certain way,” but it’s much more than that. It’s a mental health condition where a person experiences unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and feels the need to repeat certain actions (compulsions) to ease anxiety. For children, this can be confusing and distressing, and they may hide their struggles out of fear or embarrassment.
By learning more about OCD, we can create safe, supportive spaces where children feel understood rather than judged. Simple acts like listening with patience, offering reassurance, and encouraging professional support, can make a big difference.
Raising awareness helps us all remember: OCD is not a choice, and with understanding and the right support, children can learn to manage their thoughts and thrive.
