FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Welcome Back to Term 3
Welcome back! We hope all our students and families had a restful and enjoyable break. Term 3 is always a busy and exciting one, filled with learning, growth, and a range of engaging activities and events. We’re looking forward to a productive term ahead and thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this a great term for everyone.

NAPLAN 2025 – Student Reports
Individual student reports for our Year 3 and Year 5 students who participated in the 2025 National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) were sent home last week.
This marks our fourth year of completing NAPLAN online, and we are extremely proud of how our students approached the assessments. As a cohort, their results reflect a strong alignment with the expectations of the Australian Curriculum, and we are equally pleased with the individual achievements demonstrated across both year levels.
Prep Enrolments for 2025
We are already beginning preparations for the 2026 school year. To support our planning for classes and staffing, we kindly ask families with children eligible for Prep in 2026 to return completed enrolment forms, along with a copy of the birth certificate, to the office as soon as possible.
Early enrolment helps us plan more effectively and ensures your child has the opportunity to participate in our Prep transition and information sessions—an important part of helping children settle confidently into school life
A friendly Reminder about our Pick-Up Zone Protocols
If you’re using the pickup zone in the afternoon, we please ask you to do the following:
- Stay in your car.
- Have the car unlocked.
- Teach your child/ren how to do up their seat belts.
- If possible, move baby capsules to the right-hand side of the car so we can enter children safely in the left-hand side. Children are not to walk out onto the road to enter the car on the right-hand side.
- Have your child’s name clearly visible on your sun visor, to assist our wonderful staff get your child to you quickly.
- Please do not get out of the car to put bags in the boot.

A WORD FROM OUR DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Attention Yr 3 and Yr 5 parents: NAPLAN
NAPLAN results were sent home with your child last week. If you did not receive this, please check their bag for a white envelope or check with your child’s teacher.
Academic Reporting
At the end of Term 2, we followed the usual process to email reports home however there was a system error that occurred with any reports sent to a gmail account, resulting in them being delayed. We received confirmation during the holidays that this had been rectified and that all report cards should have been successfully sent and received. If you did not receive your child’s report, please contact the office via email and we can email it to you.
Instrumental Music Camp
During week 10 some of our talented instrumental music students attended Instrumental Music camp where they met other instrumental students from all over the Gold Coast. They learned new music and put on a huge performance on their final night. Congratulations to our amazing students who attended and to our Instrumental Teachers Jose Uzcategui Alvarado and Sue Ferrers for their commitment to growing our program and fostering the talent we have here at Musgrave Hill. Well done everyone!

NAIDOC ASSEMBLY
Last term in Week 10, Musgrave Hill staff and students celebrated NAIDOC week. Billie Musk, a proud, local First Nations woman started our special whole school assembly with a blessing of the land. Aminah (6 Crimson) led our “Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy” Assembly and Carter (2 Lilac) presented our Acknowledgement to Country. We all learnt a song and movements which was lots of fun. Deadly Choices students in Year 3-6, were presented with their shirts for completing the Term 2 program. We all returned to our classes and completed some great art masterpieces. These will be displayed in the Library.
Musgrave Hill state School was also represented at the South East Region NAIDOC Showcase. Student work was proudly displayed alongside many other Primary Schools, High Schools and Early Childhood Education Centres.

MIND MATTERS
Why Bubble Breathing Works

Deep breathing is a simple but powerful tool to help kids (and adults!) manage big emotions like stress, anxiety, or frustration. When we’re upset, our breathing gets fast and shallow, which signals to the brain that something’s wrong. But when we slow our breath down, it sends the opposite message: You’re safe. You’re okay.
Bubble Breathing makes this calming technique fun and easy for children to understand. Imagining (or actually using!) bubbles helps kids visualise their worries floating away, while practicing slow, steady breathing. It’s more than just a calming trick, it’s helping kids build emotional regulation skills they can use for life. Try it together during a quiet moment or when your child needs help calming down. It’s a gentle, playful way to bring a little peace into their day.
