FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
It’s hard to believe we’ve already been back at school for four weeks! While the public holidays have been a very welcomed addition, they have certainly contributed to the weeks feeling like they are flying by.
Mother’s Day
I hope all our wonderful mothers, grandmothers, and carers had a lovely Mother’s Day last Sunday. The love, care, and effort you give to your children every day is truly special and so deeply valued. You deserve to be celebrated and spoiled for everything you do.
I’d also like to say a big thank you to our amazing student and parent volunteers, especially Ester, for all their hard work in running the Mother’s Day Stall last week. It was heartwarming to hear from so many students who were proud and excited about the gifts they picked out. Their smiles said it all!
Parent – Teacher Interviews
It is my hope as many of you have taken the opportunity to book (online) to meet with your child’s class teacher next week. It is so important for parents and teachers to connect and work together for the benefit of the children. These interviews allow for the strong relationships between home and school to continue to grow and prosper. If you missed the deadline to book online, please contact your child’s teacher directly to organise a time.
Winter Uniform
It’s wonderful to see so many of our students wearing their school uniform with pride—thank you for your continued support. As we move into the cooler months, we remind families that students are expected to wear the correct school winter uniform, rather than jumpers or jackets of other colours. Please also ensure that all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. As the weather varies throughout the day, students often remove layers like jumpers and track pants, and having names on clothing makes it much easier to return lost items to their rightful owners.
Tree Branches in Pick Up Zone
I wanted to update you regarding the overhanging and falling branches near the Pick-Up Zone, which had become a safety concern. As soon as the issue was identified, the school contacted the Gold Coast City Council and requested urgent action. We were advised that their response time could take between 15 to 20 days.
I kindly remind everyone that areas outside the school gates fall under the Council's responsibility for maintenance and upkeep. Therefore, it was disheartening to hear that, some staff members on duty were met with frustration from a few individuals.
Given that the safety of our students and families is one of our top priorities, we made the decision to address and remove the most immediate hazard branches ourselves.
We are grateful to the many families who also reported the issue to the Council—your support helps reinforce the importance of prompt action. We understand the Council is expected to inspect the tree in the coming weeks and determine any further work required to ensure the area remains safe.
Does arriving late for school impact on your child’s education?
Our first bell goes at 8.40am and students should be ready for Meet and Greet. Children are required to be in class ready to start the school day at 8.50am. It’s important that your child/ren arrive on time to school, so they are ready to start the day and are engaging in the morning routines.

MIND MATTERS

“Intentionally talking with your child each day, even just for a few minutes, can have a big impact. The questions in this infographic are simple conversation starters to help you connect, whether you're chatting at dinner, in the car, or during bedtime. They cover a mix of fun, thoughtful, and meaningful topics to encourage your child to open up, share their feelings, and express themselves. Regular conversations like these help build trust, strengthen your relationship, and support your child’s emotional and social development in a natural, everyday way.”
