FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Welcome to Term 2
Welcome back to what promises to be a very busy Term 2. I hope that the holidays were a relaxing and enjoyable time for you and your family. We are delighted to see that our students have returned from the holidays rested and ready to re-immerse themselves into their schooling. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new students and families who have joined us here at Musgrave Hill State School this term. I trust that you all will have a very rewarding educational experience at our school.
Parent/Teacher Interviews Prep to 6
Please put a date claimer into your calendars for week 5 (19th May through to 23rd May). This is when Prep to Year 6 will be holding our Parent/Teacher Interviews. We will be using an online booking system again this year. Please keep an eye out as there will be more details and information to come.
100% Attendance
Last term, we introduced a new initiative to encourage and celebrate regular school attendance. Each Friday, students who have attended every day that week receive a 100% attendance sticker, and we proudly acknowledge them at our Monday Meet & Greet.
As parents and educators, we know that consistent school attendance is vital for your child’s academic progress, social development, and overall success at school. By recognising students who attend every day in a week, we aim to reinforce the importance of being present and to motivate all students to develop strong attendance habits.
This term, we’re striving to see more students achieving 100% attendance each week. Your support plays a crucial role in this effort. By helping ensure your child attends school every day, you’re actively contributing to their learning journey.
Early Arrivals
Recently, we’ve noticed an increasing number of students arriving at school before 7:30am. Please be aware that there is no staff supervision available at this time, and as such, early arrivals pose a safety concern.
While we understand that mornings can be challenging for families, especially with work and other commitments. Formal supervision at most schools starts at the time of the first bell, we’ve committed to providing limited supervision from 8:00am and have put more staff on duty from 8.15am to support our community. Ideally, we would prefer students to arrive closer to 8:40am, just before the school day begins.
For the safety and wellbeing of all students, we kindly ask that no children be dropped off before 8:00am. If you require care outside of these hours, we encourage you to contact our Outside School Hours Care provider to explore available options.

MIND MATTERS

Welcome to Mind Matters with Ms. Kiana, your school-based psychologist! This new fortnightly column will be dedicated to supporting the mental well-being of students and their families. Each issue will explore practical tips and insights on topics relating to psychology in general, and each student’s well-being. If there’s ever a topic you’d like to learn more about or if you have any questions, please feel free to email me. I'm here to help guide and support our school community in fostering healthy, happy minds!
For our first instalment, following April being Autism month, it only felt fitting that our first infographic be on embracing neurodiversity, and helping us all understand Autism a little better. Autism is a unique way of experiencing and interacting with the world. Individuals with autism have diverse strengths, challenges, and perspectives that contribute to the richness of our community. This infographic highlights key characteristics, strengths, and common difficulties of autism, while also offering simple strategies for supporting individuals with autism at home. By understanding and embracing neurodiversity, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive.
