FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
As Term 1 comes to a close, it’s hard to believe how quickly the weeks have passed. Despite some disruptions caused by Cyclone Alfred, we have achieved so much together. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our parents and carers for their ongoing support throughout the term.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Easter break—may it be a time to slow down, relax, and enjoy special moments with family. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for another exciting term at "The Hill" when school resumes on Tuesday, 22nd April.
Staffing Update
Bridget Bartolo the Deputy Principal of Year 1 and 2 is currently on some well-deserved extended leave. After an extensive and highly competitive selection process, including applications, shortlisting and interviews, I am absolutely delighted to announce that Ellen Hahn has been successfully appointed to the vacant position as Deputy Principal of Years 1 and 2.
Student Safety at Drop off Time
The safety of our students is our highest priority. Recently, staff and parents have raised concerns about unsafe practices during morning drop-off. One major issue is cars being left unattended in the designated drop-off zone for extended periods. This not only creates a serious safety risk but also causes frustration and inconvenience for families following the correct procedures.
If you need to walk your child into the school grounds, please use the designated parking areas not the drop-off zone.
High School Enrolments for Year 6
Just as you have just settled into the routine of your Year 6 student, our local schools have opened up enrolments for Year 7 2026.
If you are considering enrolling your child in an Excellence Program, Scholarship Program, or simply wish to stay informed, we encourage you to contact high schools in your area to ensure you are aware of key dates and deadlines.
This year will include a range of opportunities such as orientation days, experience days, open days, transition programs, and information sessions. Please take note of application deadlines to avoid missing important opportunities.
Uniforms (Shoes) for Term 2 2025
Please ensure that when purchasing new shoes for your child/ren, they are all black. We have noticed an increasing number of students wearing shoes that do not comply with the school's uniform policy. Below are examples of acceptable school shoes, which are readily available at various retail stores.

Please keep a watch on our school these holidays
With the holidays upon us, we need you to look out for after-hours crime in our school. If you see anything suspicious, please call School Watch on 13 17 88.
The School Watch program is a partnership between the Department of Education, Training and Employment, the Queensland Police Service and the State Government Protective Security Service. It aims to reduce vandalism, theft and arson in Queensland schools.
If you do see something suspicious, please don’t attempt to intervene. Call the School Watch number and let the local police or State Government Protective Security Service deal with the matter. Keep the number handy—13 17 88—and let’s work together to help create a safer school community.
Happy Holidays

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS
Crazy Hair Day
On Friday March 28th, we held our annual Crazy Hair Day to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. The creativity and effort our community puts into this event grows every year, as does the generosity of our donations. This year, we managed to raise a staggering $2167, $915 of which was raised by Anakin Puangket in 6 Crimson. Anakin bravely volunteered to shave off his hair to honour the memory of his grandfather, who sadly passed from cancer nearly two years ago. We called in an expert this year to help remove Anakin’s thick, long hair and we’re so grateful to Nick, from Crybaby Barbershop in Chirn Park for generously donating his time and expertise to give Anakin a stylish, professional haircut. Every class voted for a Crazy Hair Day Class Champion, who each received a free meal-deal voucher for from the tuckshop. Thank you to all who participated, styled or donated, it was a fun day and a great fundraiser for a very worthy cause.
We will share photos in the next Newsletter.
