FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Year 1 to Year 6 Parent/Teacher Interviews
Please ensure you take up the opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher. It is so important for parents and teachers to connect and work together for the benefit of the children. These interviews allow for the strong relationships between home and school to continue to grow and prosper, so if you have yet to confirm a time, please make this a priority. Booking for interviews are online.
Year 1 to Year 6-: Interviews are scheduled to commence Week 5.
Prep-: They will be conducting their interviews over week 7 and more information regarding booking requirements will be sent out soon.
Happy Mother’s Day

It is my hope that all of our amazing Mothers, Grandmothers and Carers have a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday. The contribution you all make to your children is immense and should never be underestimated. Every mum deserves to be spoilt rotten for the magnificent job they do each and every day.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank Ester Christie, Mel Holland and some of our senior leaders for all your hard work running our Mother’s Day stall this week. I know from the many discussions I have had this week with students they were very excited with their shrewd purchase of gifts for Mother’s Day.
Attendance-: Every day counts, every minute counts
There are still too many students who are having frequent days off and this can definitely have a bearing on their academic progress. This table below certainly highlights how regular absences can impact students and their schooling.
If he/she is only missing | That equals… | Which is… | Over 13 years of schooling that’s … | Which means the best your child can perform is … |
1 day per fortnight | 20 days per year | 4 weeks per year | Nearly 1.5 years. | Equal to finishing Year 11 |
1 day per week | 40 days per year | 8 weeks per year | Over 2.5 years | Equal to finishing Year 10 |
2 days per week | 80 days per year | 16 weeks per year | Over 5 years | Equal to finishing Year 7 |
3 days per week | 120 days per year | 24 weeks per year | Nearly 8 years | Equal to finishing Year 4 |
Extended Absences: If your child/ren are going to be absent from school for more than 10 days you need to complete an Exemption from Compulsory Schooling form. Please call into the Office for the form. Please note that if you’re taking your child/ren out from school through the term, they will miss work and possibly assessments while they’re away. We are unable to guarantee that assessments will be done when your child returns to school, if this is the case the assessment for the Learning Area will be marked as N, not assessed, on the report card
Winter Uniform
I would like to remind families about the school dress code. Please ensure your child is wearing the full school uniform, this includes black shoes. I do not want to put families under financial hardships but I do ask that the uniform policy is adhered to.
As the cooler weather is starting to creep in, I am noticing many of the jumpers students are wearing to school are not in line with the Dress Code Policy and therefore students may be asked to remove the jumper as it is not school uniform. Please support us and your child by ensuring they are aware of the dress code expectations and are in full uniform each day?
Winter Uniform: Navy blue Tracksuit pants and navy blue jumper (available at all leading retail shops) No hoodies. Navy blue tights can be worn under shorts or skorts.

We are Poets and we know it!
Our English unit this term is all about poetry! We have been delving into different types of poems such as odes, acrostic and rhyming poems. We have been exploring poetic devices and writing poems of our own. Last week, 3M wrote an ode to chocolate! An ode is a lyric poem that is written for an occasion or on a particular subject. To inspire creative writing, everyone enjoyed a chocolate before getting to work. Please see just a few examples of the wonderful work below!
