FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
It’s hard to believe we are already down to the final two weeks of the school term! We would like to sincerely thank our staff for their dedication, our students for their hard work and enthusiasm, and our parents and carers for their ongoing support. Together, we’ve achieved so much this term, and we look forward to finishing it on a positive and successful note. This will be the last newsletter for Term 3, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in Term 4 on Tuesday 7th October.
Book Week Celebrations
This was a wonderful reminder to us all that books don’t just sit quietly on shelves – they leap into our imaginations, wander through our playgrounds, and bring joy to both young and old. Despite the unpredictable weather leading up to the event, our celebrations went ahead with great success. The change simply provided us with a wonderful opportunity to bring the focus into our classrooms, where parents and students were able to celebrate together. The creativity, colour and happiness on display were truly infectious. A heartfelt thank you to our parents, staff and community for helping to bring favourite characters to life. It is these shared experiences that create school memories children will cherish for years to come. Beyond the fun and costumes, Book Week also reminds us of the lifelong gift of reading.

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week– Celebrating Our Amazing Team-:
This week schools across the State are celebrating our Teacher Aides and recognising the dedication and commitment of these invaluable members of our school community. At Musgrave Hill, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a skilled and caring team of Teacher Aides. Each day they support our students with extra attention to help them succeed, and work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Their contributions make a difference not only in the classroom but across our whole school community. On behalf of everyone at Musgrave Hill, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful Teacher Aide team. Your efforts are valued and appreciated—not just this week, but every single day of the year!

R U OK Day – Thursday 11th September

How to Celebrate R U OK?Day
Wondering how to get involved with R U OK Day? It’s easy! Consider some of these ways to get started with connection and participation in the day:
It is our National Day of Action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start meaningful conversations whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.
A Conversation Can Change a Life R U Ok? Inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life. You don’t need to be an expert to reach out- just a good friend and a great listener. Use these 4 steps and have a conversation that could change a life.

Father’s Day
It is my hope that all of our amazing Fathers, Grandfathers and Carers have a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday. The contribution you all make to your children should never be underestimated. Every dad needs their time to shine, enjoy your special day.

A WORD FROM OUR DEPUTY PRINCIPALS
Instrumental Music Eisteddfod Success

During August, Gold Coast schools converged at HOTA for the Gold Coast Eisteddfod.
Our Senior Band ensemble received a silver award for their excellent performance, and our Senior Strings ensemble were awarded a Gold Award.
This is a huge achievement for our students and is a credit to the dedicated instrumental teachers who work with them. Congratulations to all our students involved and to Mr Jose Uzcategui for leading the band and Ms Sue Ferrers for conducting our strings.

MIND MATTERS

Understanding Childhood Perfectionism
Wanting to do well can be a great motivator, but when children feel they must do everything perfectly, it can become overwhelming! Perfectionism often leads to stress, self-criticism, and a fear of failure that may stop kids from trying new things.
By praising effort instead of just results, modelling that mistakes are part of learning, and encouraging balance, we can help children let go of unrealistic pressure. Supporting kids to be kind to themselves builds confidence, resilience, and a healthier approach to learning and growth.

Term 3 Adventures – Life Education and Bike Safety

Life Education: This term, 4 Pink enjoyed a visit from Healthy Harold and JJ from the Life Education Team. Together, we explored how friendships and feelings connected to others can help us feel safe, happy, and healthy. Through stories and fun activities, students practised important skills like talking about big feelings, using confident and respectful language, and learning strategies to calm their emotions. It was a fun and interactive session, and everyone was excited to take part.
Bike Safety: 4 Pink also took part in a bike safety excursion where students learned how to ride a bike correctly and safely. They practised important skills such as balancing, signalling, and stopping safely, while also learning the key road rules that help keep cyclists and pedestrians safe. It was a fantastic hands-on experience, and students showed great enthusiasm as they put their new knowledge into practice on the bike track.

4/5 Aqua
5 Aqua strikes gold at Eureka!
This week, the Year 5 cohort set off to Eureka Excursions for an unforgettable day of learning about life on the goldfields. Immersed in the sights, sounds, and challenges of the 1850s, students took on the roles of prospectors, bushrangers, shopkeepers, and townsfolk as they explored a bustling goldfield township.
The 5 Aqua students joined in eagerly, working together to set up camp, pan for gold, trade at the general store, and even face encounters with roaming bushrangers. They quickly discovered that surviving on the goldfields required teamwork, problem-solving, and a good sense of humour. From handling licences to navigating the bushland, they embraced each task with enthusiasm and showed great resilience throughout the day.
The excursion was a valuable opportunity to bring classroom learning to life. It allowed students to connect with Australia’s history in a hands-on way, while also building cooperation and confidence. The 5 Aqua kids returned tired but smiling, filled with stories of adventure and a much deeper understanding of the challenges—and excitement—of the gold rush era.
